We’ve had a new garden built with a deck…now we just need some Sun to get the BBQ smoking…
A while back, we started planning a new garden – it was really a hypothetical mission and a good excuse to learn how to use Google Sketch Up…however, it quickly turned into a reality and we started thinking about actually getting it done.
The design changed somewhat from the original plans due to a mixture of budgetary and practical constraints (who knew the real World wouldn’t be as pixel perfect as the software allowed us to think) and we had to lose the army jeep out the front – but the end result is a space that’s a pleasure to be in. Job done!
We supplied all the materials from Travis Perkins who got all our materials delivered despite having to steer big trucks around a tricky terraced street..
After getting quotes from several builders, we decided to ask Mark Green to do the build. He was great – helping out with advice and suggestions along with being flexible when we changed things – like including an outdoor plug socket and re-sizing the raised planters.
Day 0 – The Starting Point
Day 1 – Clear the Garden

Day 2 – Build a fence and Lay Foundations

Day 3 – Build the Deck Frame
…and put cathead on it

Day 4- Start Building the Deck

Day 5 – Build Planters
…and read a magazine

Day 6 – Finish the Deck

Day 7 – Stain the Deck
…and turn on the Sun

Day 8 – Decorate with Greenery
…and have a cider

…and check that Cathead still likes her Flowerpot

Thanks Mark – Good Job!
