If you’ve got young kids and fancy a UK based holiday, then Bluestone National Park resort is a top destination…
It’s probably a bit of a trek, but once you’ve loaded up the car, then unloaded it to find that particular missing toy, then reloaded it again…and strapped on some bikes and jammed the roof box full of stuff you probably won’t need but should take “just in case”… Then you’re ready to embark on what should be a great family holiday.
Everything at Bluestone is geared towards keeping kids entertained…whilst at the same time, keeping the parents happy too. It’s the little things, like having a bar next to every entertainment area: massive soft play – bar next door, evening dancing tent – mini pub next door, indoor climbing area – bar upstairs, smoke pit and death slides – bar in wooden hut….nice.
We only went for a few days, but managed to do loads in that short time.
I’ve compressed day 1 into a short video:
Bluestone – Day 1 from Paul Kerrison on Vimeo.
…and day 2 into a slightly longer one:
Bluestone – Day 2 from Paul Kerrison on Vimeo.
By day 3, i was too shattered to create any more videos!
The centre of the resort is set out like a little village with independent shops (bakery, groceries etc), a village pub and several restaurants. The lodges are well spread out, roomy and have a reasonable wifi connection. The park itself is beautiful and well worth taking a bike ride to explore further – just remember, if you bike down a ravine with a baby buggy in tow…it’s (veeeeery) hard to get back up it (as we found out).
All in all, a great place to visit and we’ll definitely be going back – probably with some more new parents…
